The Glass Skin Treatment: When Your Glow Gets an Upgrade
Microneedling. DAXXIFY. RHA Redensity. One exceptionally polished finish.
There is glowing skin. And then there is glass skin.
The term has become beauty shorthand for a complexion that looks remarkably smooth, clear, hydrated and light-reflective. Skin so fresh that foundation feels optional and highlighter almost beside the point.
At BEAUX MedSpa, we take that idea a little further.
Our Glass Skin Treatment in Austin pairs professional microneedling with a customized topical blend of DAXXIFY, RHA Redensity and sterile saline, creating a treatment designed to refine the look of pores, smooth texture, boost hydration and leave the complexion with an unmistakably polished finish.
Think less facial.
More finishing treatment for your skin.
WHAT EXACTLY IS A GLASS SKIN TREATMENT?
The BEAUX Glass Skin Treatment begins with microneedling.
By creating thousands of controlled microscopic channels across the skin, microneedling triggers a natural repair response and supports the remodeling of collagen. On its own, it is already one of our favorite treatments for improving the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, uneven texture and overall skin quality.
Then comes the cocktail.
During the treatment, a customized sterile mixture containing DAXXIFY, Teoxane RHA Redensity and sterile saline is applied over the freshly microneedled skin.
Those temporary microchannels allow the formula to interact with the skin far more directly than a traditional serum sitting on an intact barrier.
Unlike conventional DAXXIFY injections, which are placed into targeted muscles to soften expression lines, the focus here is much more superficial.
The goal is not to change the way your face moves.
It is simply to make the skin itself look better.
WHY DAXXIFY?
Most people know DAXXIFY as a wrinkle-relaxing injectable. Used superficially, botulinum toxin has attracted attention for an entirely different reason.
Botulinum toxin temporarily inhibits the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings. Research suggests that when used in superficial aesthetic techniques, this may influence sebaceous gland activity and improve the appearance of enlarged pores.
The potential payoff: less visible oil, softer-looking pores and a smoother finish.
Clinical studies involving superficial botulinum toxin techniques have reported improvements in sebum production and pore appearance, and research has explored both tiny intradermal injections and microneedling-assisted application.
This is not the same treatment as DAXXIFY between the brows.
The intention is not to relax the larger muscles responsible for expression. The focus is the skin’s surface, with refinement and balance as the objective.
THEN THERE’S RHA REDENSITY
If DAXXIFY brings refinement, RHA Redensity brings the hydration.
Redensity is part of Teoxane’s RHA Collection of resilient hyaluronic acid fillers and was developed for very superficial placement in the skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, one of the reasons it is so effective when softness, smoothness and hydration are the goal.
Within the BEAUX Glass Skin protocol, Redensity becomes part of the customized mixture applied during microneedling rather than being used for traditional filler placement.
We are not chasing volume here.
We are chasing dewiness, softness and beautifully hydrated-looking skin.
Fine texture appears smoother. Crepey areas look softer. The complexion develops that subtle bounce associated with skin that is genuinely hydrated rather than simply shiny.
There is a difference.
MICRONEEDLING IS DOING PLENTY OF THE WORK, TOO
The cocktail may get the attention, but microneedling is hardly just the delivery system.
Controlled microneedling initiates the skin’s natural wound-healing response and supports collagen remodeling over time.
It can improve the appearance of:
- Fine lines
- Uneven texture
- Enlarged-looking pores
- Acne scars
- Crepey skin
- Dullness
- Overall tone and smoothness
The Glass Skin Treatment therefore works on two levels: the regenerative benefits of microneedling and the addition of a customized superficial infusion.
The immediate attraction may be glow.
The larger goal is better skin.
SO, WHAT DOES “GLASS SKIN” ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
Not literally glass.
And certainly not an Instagram filter.
The finish we are after is skin that looks smooth, hydrated, even and quietly luminous, with a surface refined enough to reflect light beautifully.
You may notice softer-looking pores, particularly through the nose and central cheeks where texture tends to be most visible.
If you are prone to excess oil, superficial botulinum toxin techniques may also help create a more balanced-looking finish.
RHA Redensity adds a hydration component, while microneedling addresses the uneven texture that can keep skin from looking truly smooth.
The result is less about announcing that you had something done and more about someone saying, Your skin looks incredible.
That is usually the better compliment anyway.
WHAT ABOUT REDNESS?
This is where a little nuance matters.
Researchers have studied intradermal botulinum toxin injections for facial erythema and flushing, including in patients with rosacea, and some studies have reported improvement.
That does not mean a microneedling-based Glass Skin Treatment should be considered a treatment for rosacea, nor should we assume that topical application through microchannels behaves exactly like direct intradermal injection.
The research is promising, but still evolving.
If persistent redness or rosacea is one of your primary concerns, your BEAUX provider can determine whether this treatment makes sense for your skin or whether another laser, injectable or skincare protocol would be more appropriate.
Beautiful skin starts with choosing the right treatment, not simply the newest one.
IS THIS THE SAME AS MICROTOX?
It belongs to the same aesthetic family, although technique varies.
“Microtox,” “Microbotox,” “skin Botox” and “glass skin Botox” are terms often used to describe treatments involving highly diluted botulinum toxin placed much more superficially than traditional wrinkle-relaxing injections.
Some approaches use dozens of tiny intradermal injections.
Others incorporate microneedling before applying a sterile solution across the skin.
Research comparing the various techniques is still developing. Some studies have found more pronounced or longer-lasting results with direct intradermal microdroplet injections, while newer clinical research suggests microneedling-assisted techniques can also improve the appearance of enlarged pores and oily skin.
Technique matters.
So does the person performing it.
IS THE GLASS SKIN COCKTAIL FDA-APPROVED?
Here, precision matters.
DAXXIFY and RHA Redensity are both FDA-approved products, but using them together as part of a topical microneedling treatment is an off-label use.
DAXXIFY is FDA-approved for intramuscular injection for moderate-to-severe glabellar lines in adults, as well as for the treatment of cervical dystonia.
RHA Redensity is FDA-approved for injection into the dermis and superficial dermis for the correction of moderate-to-severe dynamic perioral lines in adults 22 and older.
Using either product as part of a microneedling infusion falls outside those FDA-approved indications.
Off-label use exists throughout medicine and aesthetic practice. It simply makes patient selection, informed consent, proper handling and provider expertise especially important.
Which brings us to one of the least glamorous parts of the treatment, and one of the most important.
STERILITY MATTERS
Microneedling temporarily disrupts the skin barrier.
Anything applied to freshly microneedled skin needs to be treated accordingly.
The BEAUX Glass Skin Treatment is a medical aesthetic procedure, not an at-home beauty hack involving a dermaroller and the contents of your bathroom cabinet.
Sterile products, sterile technique and appropriate medical oversight matter because those microscopic channels are still openings in the skin.
This is not one to DIY.
TikTok can keep the tutorials.
We’ll keep the sterile field.
WHO IS THE GLASS SKIN TREATMENT FOR?
The treatment may be worth discussing with your BEAUX provider if your skin wish list sounds familiar:
“My pores look huge in photos.”
“My skin gets oily but somehow still looks dehydrated.”
“My makeup settles into every tiny bit of texture.”
“I want glow without adding volume to my face.”
“My skin just looks tired.”
“I want something beyond a facial without significant downtime.”
It can also be an appealing option before a special event, a change of season or any moment when your complexion could use a more elevated reset.
But there is no universal recipe for great skin.
Active skin conditions, medications, sensitivity, previous treatments and your overall aesthetic plan all matter. Your BEAUX provider will determine whether Glass Skin belongs in your regimen or whether another treatment is better suited to what you are actually trying to achieve.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTERWARD?
Because microneedling is involved, expect some pinkness or flushing immediately after treatment.
The skin may feel warm, tight or mildly sensitive, similar to a light sunburn. Temporary dryness or light flaking can also occur as the skin moves through its renewal process.
This is not the moment for your strongest retinoid, acid peel or newly discovered twelve-step skincare routine.
Keep things simple.
Gentle cleansing, proper hydration and diligent sunscreen are the priority while the skin recovers.
Your BEAUX provider will give you specific aftercare instructions based on the depth of your treatment and the needs of your skin.
As the initial redness settles, the complexion begins to reveal the reason this treatment earned its name.
Smoother texture.
A fresher finish.
Soft, healthy-looking luminosity.
The kind that looks much more like excellent skin than obvious cosmetic work.
THE BEAUX TAKE ON GLASS SKIN
Glass skin should not mean chasing poreless perfection.
Real skin moves. It has texture. It changes with hormones, weather, stress, age and, occasionally, the previous night’s margarita.
Our version of glass skin is more interesting than trying to erase every sign that your skin is actually skin.
We want it healthy-looking.
Refined.
Hydrated.
Smooth enough to catch the light beautifully.
And unmistakably yours.
The BEAUX Glass Skin Treatment combines microneedling with a customized DAXXIFY and RHA Redensity infusion for patients who want to elevate the quality of their skin without changing the character of their face.
Sometimes the best aesthetic treatment is the one nobody can quite identify.
They only know you look good.
