HOW DOES BOTOX HELP HYPERHIDROSIS?
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. The nerves that control your sweat glands send signals that tell your body to produce sweat, even when you are not hot or active. Botox for excessive sweating works by temporarily blocking those signals in the treated area, so the sweat glands stay calmer.
During treatment, we place Botox just under the skin in a grid-like pattern. The product acts only where we inject it. You will still sweat normally in untreated parts of your body, which helps your body regulate temperature while keeping problem areas drier.
The FDA approved Botox in 2004 to treat excessive underarm sweating. When used by a skilled injector, it can also help reduce sweating in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Many patients in Austin choose this option after trying prescription antiperspirants or other hyperhidrosis treatments that did not give them enough relief.
BOTOX HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT AT BEAUX MEDSPA
At BEAUX MedSpa, we offer Botox hyperhidrosis treatment for the underarms and other areas where excessive sweating impacts your life. A typical appointment takes about 10–20 minutes. We use a very fine needle to inject small amounts of Botox under the skin in a pattern that evenly covers the treatment zone.
Most patients tolerate the injections well. For sensitive areas, we can apply a topical numbing cream or ice to improve comfort. After treatment, you can return to normal activities right away. However, we usually recommend avoiding intense exercise, saunas, and anything that triggers heavy sweating for the rest of the day.
